ELMHURST, Ill. – The Summit League announced its annual volleyball awards Thursday evening (Nov. 15), and Western Illinois sophomore Samantha Fournier (Coal Valley, Ill./Moline) was named All-Summit League Honorable Mention.
Fournier finished her 2012-13 campaign with a team-best 402 kills (3.65 per set), and 294 digs (2.67 per set), which ranks second on the team. Her 402 kills is the fifth-most a Leatherneck has tallied in a single-season ever.
She had four 20-plus kill efforts, and tallied a season-best 28 at home versus South Dakota State (Oct. 19). She also had 15 matches with 10 or more digs.
Compared to the rest of the league, Fournier ranks fourth in overall kills and fifth in kills per set, while ranking third in overall points (455) and sixth in points per set (4.1).
The outside hitter also tallied 58 blocks (0.53 per set), 36 assists (0.33 per set), and 20 service aces (0.18 per set).
Western Illinois finished the season 11-17 overall and 4-12 in Summit League matches.
