MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois men's basketball forward Adam Link has been named Papa John's Scholar-Athlete of the Week for his accomplishments on the court and in the classroom.
The Elbert, Co. native has started every game this season for the Leathernecks, and ranks third on the team in both points per game (8.6) and rebounds per game (3.4). He has also owns the second most free throws made on the team with 23, and is shooting 71.9% from the charity stripe. The newcomer has recorded 12 assists, nine steals, and five blocks on the year.
This past week Link helped the Leathernecks to a 2-0 record on the road, both Summit League victories, against South Dakota and Kansas City. Link averaged 32.5 minutes, six points, and two rebounds per game.
His best game this season came a few weeks ago on November 18th in the Leathernecks win over Yale in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic. Link finished the game with a game-high 18 points, four rebounds, two assists, a block and a steal.
In the classroom, Link has earned a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 and is majoring in General Studies.
