MACOMB, Ill. - The Western Illinois men's basketball team will play host to Cleveland State in the final edition of the ESPN Bracketbusters event on February 23 at 7 p.m. inside Western Hall
The Leathernecks currently own a RPI of 134, while the Vikings have an RPI of 187.
Last season the Leathernecks made their first-ever appearance in the BracketBusters event, when they traveled to Evansville and fell to the Purple Aces, 68-45.
Western owns a 7-17 overall record against Cleveland State, a former Summit League member when the league was known as the Mid-Continent Conference. The first meeting between the two teams came on February 14, 1972, when the Leathernecks beat the Vikings, 72-63.
The Leathernecks also beat Cleveland State in the 1984 conference championship game, 74-64. Western's only Summit League tournament championship.
The last meeting between Western Illinois and Cleveland State was during the 1993-94 season, on February 19th when the Vikings beat the Leathernecks, 85-68.
The Leathernecks play host to the Summit League's newest member Omaha this Thursday, February 7 at 7 p.m.
