LAST TIME OUT:
Western Illinois dropped its fourth straight overall and third consecutive at home following a 61-55 decision to IUPUI... The Leathernecks led by one at halftime, but the Jaguars went on a run at the start of the half and never relinquished the lead... Western shot 32.8 percent from the field but only 29.6 percent from 3-point range and made just 9-of-19 free throws... IUPUI held a 50-32 edge on rebounds, but Western forced the Jags into 20 turnovers... Charnelle Reed led Western in scoring for the third straight game netting 15 points (four 3-pointers)... Rebecca Henricson scored a career-high 13 points and recorded three assists and three steals... Michele Salvatori grabbed eight rebounds to lead Western... Ashley Luke added eight points and seven boards.

UP NEXT: Western plays host to North Dakota State (Feb. 14) on a Valentine's Day contest inside Western Hall, scheduled for 7 p.m. Western will follow that with a home game on February 16 versus South Dakota State at 4:30.

LUKE SHY OF ANOTHER DOUBLE-DOUBLE: Redshirt-freshman Ashley Luke has recorded two double-doubles this season, and nearly added to her total on a couple of occasions this season... The Green Bay transfer recorded eight points and seven rebounds against IUPUI, with 13 points/nine rebounds the prior game versus Chicago State... Luke has now scored in double-figures 10 times in the last 13 games (all 10 of her occurrences this year)... Over that 13-game span she is shooting 52.1 percent (61-of-117) from the field, averaging 11.6 points, 6.9 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game.

NATIONALLY SPEAKING: Western Illinois women's basketball is currently nationally ranked 15th in 3-point field goals made per game (7.8), 47th in assists per game (15.5), 73rd in 3-point shooting percentage (.328), 48th in personal fouls per game (14.2) and 64th in assist to turnover ratio (0.91)... Rebecca Henricson ranks 41st nationally in assist/turnover ratio (1.90)... Saule Kontautaite is 87th in 3-pointers per game (2.18) and is just outside of the national 'Top 100' in 3-point percentage (104th/.331).

SUMMIT LEAGUE 'TOP 10': Western leads the Summit League averaging 15.5 assists, 7.8 3-point field goals per game, 3.7 blocks and tied for first posting a 0.9 assist/turnover ratio... Western is third in 3-point shooting (.328) and scoring offense (63.9 ppg)... Ashley Luke stands third in FG shooting (.479, best average by a freshman) and sixth at 6.4 rebounds. She's tied for first with 2.8 offensive rebounds... Rebecca Henricson stands fourth averaging 3.8 assists, tied for sixth in steals (1.8) and second in assist/turnover ratio (1.9)... Saule Kontautaite is tied for 10th in scoring (12.8), eighth in FG shooting (.424) and first in 3s made (2.2)... Michelle Maher is fourth averaging 2.0 3s per game... Charnelle Reed stands third in the league shooting .429 from 3-range and tied for seventh averaging 1.6 3s per game... Luke ranks eighth in the Summit League with 0.8 blocked shots per game while Rachel Evans is ninth at 0.7 p/g... Michele Salvatori is nearly in the Top 10 in rebounds, tied for 11th at 5.2 per game.

ROUND ONE VS THE MAVERICKS: The Fighting Leatherneck women's basketball team cruised to a 71-44 win over Omaha on January 12th inside Western Hall... In the opening half, the Leathernecks never trailed using eight 3-pointers to take control of the game and head to the locker room with a 37-22 advantage... Michelle Maher had the hot hand knocking down four of her seven shots from long range... Ashley Luke reached double figures for the fifth time in the last seven games with 12 points in the contest, while Maher used four three-pointers to post 12 points... Also reaching double figures was Jackie Rieger with 10 points... Rebecca Henricson matched a career-high with six rebounds in the game, while Rieger matched her season-high mark also pulling down six boards... Henricson's five steal performance also matched her career-high... The squad shot 46 percent from the field (23-of-50), 57.9 percent from beyond the arc (11-of-19) and 87.5 percent from the charity stripe (14-of-16), while holding Omaha to 30.8 percent from the floor (16-of-52), 35.7 percent from long range (5-of-14) and 87.5 percent from the line in the game (7-of-8).

SCOUTING THE MAVERICKS: Omaha split its weekend roadtrip to Fort Wayne and Oakland, losing to the Mastodons 51-46 but defeating OU 67-63... Against the Golden Grizzlies Taijhe Kelly recorded a double-double with 10 points and 12 rebounds to go with five blocks... Paige Frauendorfer also tallied a double-double, 17 points/12 boards... Ericka House scored in double-figures with 12 while Jamie Nash had 13 points, five assists and four steals... Two Mavericks played all 40 minutes... Frauendorfer leads the scoring attack at 13.8 ppg, followed by Carolyn Blair-Mobley with 12 ppg and Nash at 10.4 points... Frauendorfer leads the team and Summit League in rebounds with 8.6 per game and Blair-Mobley is second on the squad averaging 6.8 (fourth in the league)... Nash has dished out a Summit League-leading 151 assists... Omaha averages more than five rebounds per game more than the opposition with a +7.5 scoring advantage.
