Marquette Defeats Men's Tennis

MILWAUKEE - Western Illinois men's tennis dropped a 7-0 decision to Marquette in Milwaukee at Helfaer Tennis Stadium on Saturday night.

The Golden Eagles, who also defeated South Dakota State 5-2 earlier in the day, improve to 4-1 overall. The Fighting Leathernecks fall to 3-6.

At fifth singles, freshman Max Cederkall was the lone Leatherneck to win a set, dropping a tight 5-7, 7-5, 1-0 decision.

Bradley Holt and Mitch Granger also played in close matches. Holt fell 6-4, 6-4 at No. 2 singles, while Granger lost 7-5, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.

The combination of Ben Yue and Patrick Hammers also dropped a narrow 8-7 decision at No. 1 doubles.

Western Illinois will look to rebound on Tuesday, as it travels to Jacksonville, Ill. on Tuesday to take on Illinois College and Lindenwood-Belleville.
