AMES, Iowa - The Western Illinois indoor track & field season came to a close on Saturday at the Iowa State Last Chance NCAA Qualifier on Saturday inside the Lied Center.

The Leathernecks sent three men and three women who were in search of a top 16 mark nationally, which would have qualified them for nationals, but none were able to make a jump inside the top 20.

Jamario Taylor posted the best performance for Western, tying for first place in the high jump with a leap of 6-11.00.

Nathaniel Marshall added another strong finish in the weight throw with a toss of 64-01.25.

Dana LaRue achieved throws of 48-06.75 in the shot put and 58-11.25 in the weight throw.

In the 400-meter dash, Kirsten Bryant narrowly missed her personal best, finishing in 58.76.

Glenn Powell completed the 60-meter hurdles in a time of 8.22 to finish fourth.

Rounding out the competition was Talisa Watson, who finished the 60-meter hurdles in 9.27.

The track & field team will now begin preparations for the outdoor season, which opens March 15-16 at Oklahoma State and Tulsa.
