MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. -The Fighting Leatherneck baseball team dropped their first game of the weekend against the University of Minnesota on Friday (Mar. 8).
The Leathernecks were in the game the whole way thanks to a valient pitching effort from both John White and Aaron Michel.
White started the game and gave Western 5 2/3 innings, only allowing four hits and 2 runs, none of which were earned. Michel entered the game in relief and pitched 2 1/3 innings allowing one hit and one earned run in the defeat.
Tom Windle started for the Golden Gophers and pitched a complete game striking out eight. The Leathernecks were also held hit less in the contest by Windle, who had his first career no hitter.
Western and Minnesota play again tomorrow with a start time of 2:04 p.m. from the Hubert H. Humphrey Metrodome.
