DES MOINES, Iowa - Nathaniel Marshall set a new career best in the hammer throw as Western Illinois track & field finished competition at the prestigious Drake Relays on Sunday.
Marshall's toss of 196-11 also ranks third in program history and is currently second-best in the Summit League this season.
He finished seventh out of 27, ahead of participants from Missouri, Illinois, Iowa, Drake, Air Force, UTEP, and more.
The only other Leatherneck competitor on Saturday was Jamario Taylor in the high jump. He leaped 2.08m to tie for seventh place, again ahead of premire college programs like Minnesota, Northwestern, Iowa State and Nebraska.
Western Illinois will be back in action next weekend, with members of the team traveling to Northern Iowa, Wisconsin, and Monmouth (Ill.).
