ROCHESTER, Mich. – Two ninth inning runs gave Oakland a 5-4 victory over Western in game two of the weekend series on Friday (May 17). The Leathernecks are now 18-33 overall this season and 9-15 in conference play and have now qualified for the 2013 Summit League Tournament.
After the Golden Grizzlies scored one in the bottom of the first, the Leathernecks took their first lead of the game in the second inning after putting two runs across. Steve Kedroski singled to lead off the inning and came around to score after Brent Turner hit into a fielders choice. Neil DeCook also scored after an Oakland throwing error to give Western the lead.
Oakland then scored one run in the third inning to tie the game and one more in the sixth to go on top 3-2.
After a scoreless seventh inning the Leathernecks put two more across in the top of the eighth to take a 4-3 lead. Dan Dispensa had an RBI single for Western in the inning and Jameson Henning scored on a Kedroski RBI ground out.
In the ninth Oakland recorded three singles and put two runs across to pick up the 5-4 win. Robby Enslen hit a walk off single for the Golden Grizzlies that scored Mike Brosseau and gave OU the victory.
The Leathernecks and Golden Grizzlies will meet again tomorrow (May 18) in a doubleheader beginning at noon (CT).
