Brophy Hall Pool

The Western Illinois Swimming & Diving teams host all of their home competitions at the facilities in Brophy Hall. The Brophy Hall Pool has served as the home for the swimming & diving teams that have earned nine conference championships since the building’s opeing in 1973.

The swimming complex, housed in an area of approximately 10,800 square feet, includes an L-shaped pool 25 yards by 25 meters with a depth range of 3 1/2-7 feet. The walls of the deeper end include two observation windows used for filming stroke technique underwater. The diving well consists of two one meter diving boards and one three meter board. Two balconies with bleachers allow for comfortable seating of approximately 560 spectators.

When it opened in 1973, Brophy was one of the premier facilities for women’s physical education in the nation. The hall is named in honor of the long-time professor and Chairman for Women’s Physical Education at Western.
