Dusty Napoleon joins the Western Illinois baseball staff after spending 2012 as an assistant at Big Ten member Iowa.  While at Iowa, Napoleon assisted with the Iowa hitters helping two regulars finish in the top 15 in the Big Ten in hitting, and helping groom one draft pick.  Napoleon played at Iowa from 2005-07 before being drafted by Oakland in the 19th round of the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft.  In four years, he played at all four minor league levels and made it to the Triple A level in 2010.  Napoleon's most productive year as a professional was 2008, when he hit 13 doubles, 2 triples, and 2 home runs between Vancouver and Kane County. 

As a Hawkeye, Napoleon appeared in 159 games and made 146 starts. The former catcher and first baseman led the team with 34 RBIs and tied for the team lead with two home runs in 2006 as a sophomore.  In 2007, Napoleon ranked third on the team with a .354 batting average. He ranked first on the team in RBI (56), walks (50), on-base percentage (.506) and was second with 12 doubles, 44 runs scored and 62 hits.

Napoleon was a standout baseball player for his father, Mike Napoleon, at IHSA power New Trier.  The 2004 Sun-Times Athlete of the Year, Central Suburban League Player of the Year, and First Team Chicago Tribune and Sun-Times All-State player was also a standout quarterback for the Trevians, earning All-State honors and setting career records for touchdowns and passing yards. 

Napoleon graduated with a degree in Health and Sports Studies from the University of Iowa. He is originally from Wilmette, Illinois.
