MACOMB, Ill. - College Sports Madness released its All-League teams on Friday morning and Western Illinois baseball laid claim to three spots on the two teams. Austin Cowen was named First Team infielder and Dan Dispensa was named First Team outfielder while Ryan Cowhey collected Second Team outfielder honors.
Cowen and Dispensa were both named Second Team All-Summit League earlier this week while Cowhey picks up his first league honor.
Cowen started all 53 games and hit .317 with nine doubles, two triples and four home runs while driving in a team-high 41 runs batted in. His 41 RBI were seventh most in the league.
Dispensa appeared in all 53 games in 2012 and led the team, and was fourth in The Summit League with a .344 batting average. Dispensa drove in 28 RBI with 12 doubles, three triples and two home runs and a team-high 90 total bases.
Cowhey stole 26 bases in 29 attempts after being perfect for much of the season while starting all 53 games. The 26 stolen bases was tied for most in the league and seventh most in Western's program history. Cowhey hit .277 with 12 doubles and two home runs with 24 RBI and drew a team-high 27 walks.
