MACOMB, Ill. - The Western Illinois athletics department continues its Target: Western Forward Facilities Initiative with the construction of a women's soccer locker room. The project is in the process of being built and should be completed in the near future, prior to the 2012 season.
Assistant Vice President Student Services/Athletics Director Dr. Tim Van Alstine discussed the evolution of the women's soccer program.
The locker room, which will be located in Brophy Hall, will end up costing around $100,000. The costs will cover demolition, construction, painting, lighting, furniture and electronics for the facility and will be funded by reallocation of internal department
funds, funding raising and naming opportunities.
The Target: Western Forward Facilities Initiative was launched in 2001 in an effort to improve athletic facilities and create the very best possible NCAA Division I student-athlete experience. Since 2001, there has been 18 major facility improvements, totaling over $13 million.
