MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois swimming and diving head coach Greg Naumann announced the 19th member of the 2012-13 recruiting class on Monday (May 21). Matt Abercrombie, a local product out of Macomb High School, will join the Leathernecks in the fall.

Matt Abercrombie joins the Leatherneck squad following a successful swimming career at Macomb. The two-year team captain holds three high school records, all of which were more than 25 years old. He was a three sport athlete and earned varsity letters in swimming, water polo and baseball.
While at Western Illinois, Abercrombie plans to pursue a degree in Business Management and a minor in Journalism.
Head Coach Greg Naumann: "Matt will be leading the way for our distance group on the men's side. He has the potential to come in and set new school records in the 1000 and 1,650 freestyle events as a freshman. Matt also has some great versatility and could get some time in different events to help the team out next year."
