MACOMB, Ill.--The Western Illinois Athletic Department is teaming up with The Veteran Tickets Foundation to donate football tickets to veterans and current military members during the 2012 season.
"The Veteran Tickets Foundation is a well-respected organization and it is an honor for Western Illinois University Athletics to work with them," Director of Athletics Marketing Kelsey Homewood said.
"Leatherneck Athletics is grateful for all of those individuals who have served our country and we look forward to giving back during the 2012 football season and in the future. This is a great opportunity to say 'thank you' to the veterans in Macomb and the surrounding area."
Western Illinois will be working with the nonprofit organization, which has orchestrated the donation of more than 420,000 event tickets to verified military personnel.
Fifty tickets will be donated for each of the six home contests, beginning with the season-opener against Butler on Aug. 30 at 6 p.m.
These tickets can be claimed on vettix.org up to three weeks in advance of each game, with tickets for the contest against Butler becoming available to military personnel on the site on Aug. 13.
