J.C. Baker Named MVFC ‘Newcomer of the Week’

ST. LOUIS, Mo. – J.C. Baker (Yuma, Ariz./Barstow/Arizona Western CC) recorded his third 100-yard rushing effort of the season last weekend and was named Missouri Valley Football Conference ‘Newcomer of the Week’. He became the third different Leatherneck to win the award this year.

Baker turned in the third 100-yard rushing game of his brief Leatherneck career, 104 as he averaged 8.0 yards per attempt, as Western opened MVFC play with a 24-10 win over South Dakota. Baker also caught a career-high five passes totaling 33 yards.

He currently stands third in the league and 39th nationally averaging 90.4 yards per game. He stands fifth in the league accounting for 100 all-purpose yards per contest.

The Leathernecks (3-2 overall, 1-0 MVFC) travel to Illinois State this Saturday (Oct. 5), kickoff scheduled for 2 p.m.
