PRIMM, Nev. - The Western Illinois Fighting Leatherneck women's golf team concluded play in the 2012 Summit League Championships Tuesday (April 24), and finished sixth our of the 10 teams with a score of 932 (300, 324, 308).
"I'm very happy with our play here at the Summit League Championships," said head coach Lia Biehl Lukkarinen. "Great efforts from Kristi (Tschudin) and Ashley (Jeffers) who each finished in the top-10. We learned a lot this year and know where we need to be next season. I'm extremely proud of this young team."
Both Sophomore Kristi Tschudin and freshman Ashley Jeffers were able to finish in the top-10 individually.
Tschudin concluded the event with a three-round score of 223 (71, 79, 73). Her round of 73 in the final 18 moved from sixth to a tie for third overall. Jeffers posted a career-low 70 in the opening round of action, and ended the tournament with an overall score of 226 (70, 79, 77) and tied for sixth-place.
Senior Samantha Hainline and junior Alexa Arent rounded out the team score, with Hainline posting a 236 (75, 82, 79) and 26th-place finish, while Arent finished 43rd overall with a score of 249 (84, 86, 79).
Hainline's score of 75 in round one marked a career-low.
Freshman Jessica Knepp concluded the event with a score of 251 (85, 84, 82) and placed 45th.
Oral Roberts maintained its lead and finished first overall, taking home the 2012 Summit League crown, while North Dakota State's Amy Anderson took home the individual title.
