Tschudin's Hole In One Helps Western to Sixth-Place Finish

OMAHA, Neb. - The Fighting Leathernecks finished sixth in the Creighton Classic, which concluded Tuesday afternoon (April 17), with a two-round score of 676 (348, 328).

Northern Iowa walked away on top after carding a team score of 635 (307, 328), while North Dakota State's Amy Anderson finished #1 individually with a score of 149 (74, 75).

Western's sophomore golfer
Kristi Tschudin recorded her first-ever hole in one. Tschudin used her five iron on a par 3 that was 165 yards to sink the rare ace. The sophomore standout paced Western tying for 20th with a score of 167 (84, 83).

The remainder of the Leatherneck's top-five finished better than 35th in the invite, with freshman Jessica Knepp finishing 25th with a score of 169, junior Alexa Arent placing tied for 28th with a score of 171, senior Samantha Hainline finishing tied for 31st with a score of 172, and freshman Ashley Jeffers finishing tied for 34th with a score of 173.

Competing as an individual, freshman Nikki Tatham finished tied for 22nd after carding a 168.

Western will head to the 2012 Summit League Championships next Monday and Tuesday (April 23-24) in Primm, Nev. Last season Western finished second in the conference.
