Cara Van Dorn joined the Western Illinois Strength and Conditioning staff in July 2011.
Prior to joining Western, the Greensboro, N.C. native, earned
a master's degree in recreation and sport science with a concentration
in coaching education from Ohio University. At Ohio, Van Dorn was a
graduate assistant in the strength and conditioning department and
worked with the football, wrestling, baseball, softball and cheerleading
Van Dorn completed
her undergraduate degree in comparative literature with a concentration
in German at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. At North
Carloina she was a varsity rower for the Tar Heels and went on to coach
prep school rowing at Notre Dame Preparatory School in Baltimore, Md.
Van Dorn is a
NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist and holds the Level
II Senior Coach Certification through USA-Wieghtlifting. She is
currently pursuing a second master's degree in kinesiology at Western Illinois.
