Chris Neaveill set two program records on the third day of action in Indianapolis.

Day Three Results

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Chris Neaveill set program records in the 100 backstroke and the 100 butterfly on Friday (Feb. 20). Western Illinois either entered the top ten or improved upon previous top ten marks during day three of the 2015 Summit League Championships.

Neaveill's first record-breaking performance came in the 100 butterfly. The sophomore set the previous record last season, touching the wall in 48.29 seconds. This season, Neaveill bested his mark, finishing in second place overall with a time of 48.02 seconds. Later, in the 100 backstroke, Neaveill finished in 49.69 seconds, six-tenths of a second faster than last season's record.

Also in the 100 backstroke, Kevin Arakaki entered the top ten with a time of 52.55 seconds. The senior sits in seventh place all-time in program history.

In the women's 100 breaststroke, Sarah Rosenhauer and Andie Villez recorded top ten performances. Rosenhauer moved from eighth place to third all-time at Western, with a 1:06.27 finish. Meanwhile, Villez took Rosenhauer's spot in eighth place, touching out in 1:08.54. Natalie Cumbie cemented her position in ninth place in the Western Illinois record books in the 100 butterfly. Cumbie touched the wall in 1:00.03, three-tenths of a second faster than her time last season.

JD Furr moved into second place all-time at Western Illinois in the 100 breaststroke. Furr finished in 55.89 seconds, three-tenths behind the program record set in 2001. Daniel Melnick fell just shy of a top ten performance, finishing in 1:00.70.

Lizzie Hollopeter also found herself in second place in program history, touching the wall in 58.19 seconds in the 100 backstroke. Hollopeter previously sat in fourth in Leatherneck history.

Melanie Pearson moved into seventh place at Western in the 1 meter dive competition after compiling a score of 233.65. Julia Rasmussen recorded a score of 194.65 in the same event.

In the women's 400 medley relay, the team of Hollopeter, Rosenhauer, Cumbie, and Rasmussen narrowly missed out on a top three performance, finishing in 3:55.49. Matt Abercrombie touched out in 3:59.37 in the 400 individual medley, short of his previous program record of 3:57.63. Deven Ries and Arakaki finished short of top ten performances.
