Acklin Signs Free Agent Contract with Baltimore Ravens

Western Illinois wide receiver Jaelon Acklin signed with the Baltimore Ravens Saturday.

MACOMB, Ill. - Western Illinois wide receiver Jaelon Acklin signed with the Baltimore Ravens Saturday (April 28) as an undrafted free agent.

"Jaelon has an irrefutable will to succeed stacked on top of elite talent," said head coach Jared Elliott. "He has never been outworked a day in his life. He now has the opportunity to see his hard work pay off, and his dreams realized. We are so happy for Jaelon and will be behind him every step of the way at the next level."

Acklin's senior season included All-American buzz by three different organizations as STATS FCS, Phil Steele and the Associated Press all highlighted him on their postseason lists.

The 2017 season saw Acklin set Western's single-season records with 84 receptions and 1,369 yards, and the wide out's five 100-yard receiving games matched a program high.

He has 12 receiving touchdowns in his career and 10 were recorded in the breakout season; the effort ties for fifth in Leatherneck history.

A native of Mountain View, Mo., Acklin finished the 2017 campaign second in the nation in receiving yards (1,369), fifth in receiving yards per game (114.1), seventh in total touchdowns (14), ninth in all-purpose yards per game (135.33), 11th in receptions per game (7.0) and 14th in receiving scores (10).

He capped his career ranked eighth in WIU history with 1,733 receiving yards and tied for 10th with 12 receiving touchdowns.
