General Information
  • All team members must be registered as a full-time student (12 credit hours) at WIU and must maintain a 2.0 cumulative GPA.
  • The Western Illinois Cheerleading team consists of both males and females.
  • Our team performs at all home football games and men's and women's basketball games. We also travel to a select few away events including playoff games and conference tournaments.
  • Special appearances at other athletic and community events are also required throughout the year.
  • Head coach Denise Cremer can be contacted with any requests at cheerleading@wiu.edu.

Expenses
  • Uniform and megaphones are provided through the Athletic Department. All equipment must be turned in (in good condition) at the end of the year or the individual will be charged for the items.
  • Personal attire such as tennis shoes, bodysuits, briefs, bows, etc. must be purchased by each individual. Additional team items such as backpacks, duffels, hoodies, etc. can also be purchased by each individual, but are not required.
  • UCA Summer Cheer Camp and camp attire costs are the responsibility of each individual on the team. Summer Cheer Camp is mandatory for all team members.
  • All team members are expected to fundraise both individually and as a team to help with various expenses including new uniforms, signs, flags, megaphones, poms, etc. as well as to help assist with travel expenses as needed. Fundraising expectations are based upon team size and goals each year.
  • When traveling for athletic events, transportation and hotel accommodations are covered by the Athletic Department. Food stipends are allotted each day. Part of our fundraising efforts go to support team travel.

Time Obligations
  • Our team practices 2-3 days a week, in the evenings. Times are tentative.
  • Additional conditioning is required for 3 hours a week. Times are tentative.
  • Study tables are required for 3 hours a week. Times are tentative.
  • Athletic events occupy 1-3 days a week, sometimes more, depending on the season.
  • Other obligations such as fundraisers, appearances, community service, etc. are tentative.
